Title: Circus in the Sky #2 Artist: Jesse Van Horne Year: 2015 Media: Acrylic on Wood 30"x48"
This is the second large painting in my Circus in the Sky series. Both works feature a B-17 Flying Fortress, though each has a unique paint schema and is traversing another plane of reality or dimension, but these guys are definitely from the same squadron, and on the same quest.
I execute all of my work on plywood canvases that I create by constructing a simple box frame. I have found an outlet for my carpenterish tendencies!
Circus in the Sky, an ode to the infamous, the best in human science and achievement. Yet we use it for the perpetual destruction of our brothers and sisters around the globe instead of the perpetual enhancement of life for everyone.
All of my work contains hints at or nods to consciousness and the idea of awakening and its beneficial effects on our world, but I don't like to talk about that much. I just like to see how people react to what I've made. Sometimes there is indifference, sometimes people really relate to one of my works. How do I know what someone will think? I just make work that I like to look at and then I try to share it as much as possible.
